ANALYSIS OF THE IMPACT OF ONLINE GAMES ON STUDENTS' ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT

Online games are a type of game that is very popular with students in Indonesia recently and have become controversial in the realm of education. Games that use the internet or online network by allowing players to interact with other players from different places are the reason why this online game is so popular. The pros and cons in this case are that online games are considered to have quite a significant impact, both positive and negative. This research aims to analyze the impact of playing online games on student learning achievement. Through qualitative analysis methods, the author collected data from schools to find out the extent to which the frequency of playing online games is related to their academic achievement. This research underlines the importance of parental and teacher supervision in managing time for playing online games and encouraging students to choose games that are more educationally useful so that students not only eliminate boredom in studying, but are able to encourage students to improve their abilities and knowledge.
