Abstract

Abstract

This journal discusses the important role of madrasas and madrasa teachers in the context of education in Indonesia. The aim of this research is to explore the contribution of madrasas in forming students' character and knowledge, as well as to analyze the challenges faced by madrasa teachers in carrying out their duties. The method used in this research is a literature study and survey involving a number of madrasas in various regions. The research results show that madrasas not only function as religious education institutions, but also as centers for the formation of good character. Data from the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia shows that the number of madrasas continues to increase, with more than 16,000 madrasas throughout Indonesia in 2022 (Kemenag, 2022). However, madrasa teachers often face challenges such as a lack of professional training and adequate support. The main conclusion from this research is that to improve the quality of education in madrasas, there needs to be more attention to the development of teacher professionalism and the provision of adequate resources. In this way, madrasas can contribute more significantly to national education and the development of student character.
